Angelo and Della, immigrants from Sicily, arrived in America with a shared dream: a better life for their growing family. When the Great Depression tightened its grip, offering little work beyond the dangerous coal mines, Angelo had an idea. He loved ice cream, and perhaps he could sell enough of it to support his wife and their three young sons. With hope in his heart, he bought a small ice cream cart, determined to bring in a much-needed income. But day after day, Della noticed the money Angelo brought home didn’t match how much ice cream was missing. She grew curious and sent their sons to spy on him and what they discovered warmed her heart. Angelo, with quiet generosity, was giving away ice cream to children who couldn’t afford even a simple treat. He just couldn’t bear to say no to a child in need. Rather than scolding him, Della was deeply moved. Angelo’s generosity became her own, and together, they built a legacy grounded in caring for others.

We’re Mike and Erin, proud owners of Angelo’s and stewards of this extraordinary story passed on by Mike’s great grandparents, Della and Angelo. At Angelo’s, it’s never just about dessert. It’s about connection, community, and bringing a little sweetness to your day.
